The WCP is described below, panel by panel.

Inspiration:

I was a confirmed Debian user for around six years up to spring 2006, but a slacker only as long as I've been working on the Wolvix installer/WCP. Most of my Debian use was with a great little distro called Libranet, sadly now dormant since the passing of its founder, and unlikely to be revived. One of the great things about Libranet was 'adminmenu' a collection in one gui interface of all the utilities a user could ever wish for to configure and administer his/her system.

Adminmenu

System description:

Around the time of the demise of Libranet in 2005 I'd been toying with the idea of trying to create something like adminmenu (which was proprietary code), and in 2006 it occured to me that this might be useful to make a slackware-based system more accessible to less experienced users. the result was the Wolvix Control Panel. The similarities are pretty obvious.

The Wolvix Control Panel is a python/gtk2 application providing a comprehensive suite of admin utilities for configuration and control of a Wolvix GNU/Linux LiveCD or installed system. The various utilites are grouped into ten groups, each of which occupies one of ten panels on the WCP window.
